    BATHROOM DESIGN ON A BUDGET

Designing and implementing a bathroom design on a budget is possible. Fret not.

When considering a make-over design for an existing bathroom, think creatively. Reuse and re-purpose what you already have in this important and functional space.

    Refinish or Resurface,  Don't Discard

Vanity looking drab and rough around the edges? As long as the frame and structure are still sound, you will save a bundle by enhancing it at the same time as you change the overall look of the room. Removing a laminate or old tile top and replacing it with an inexpensive pre-fab granite countertop can add thousands of dollars in appearance alone. Shop for remnant granite slabs or select fun tiles and set them yourself. Tiling is an easy project, and tiles come in many styles and patterns. You'll get a custom look for a fraction of the price. Consider removing the base cabinet, sanding and re-staining, or painting. Even having a pro do the job is fairly inexpensive.

    Beware the Pipes

While a re-design of the bathroom can include moving fixtures such as the sink or tub, the cost of re-routing plumbing can be prohibitive. In major bathroom renovations, this accounts for a large portion of the cost of the job. So, work with what you have and where you have it. A replacement toilet or sink is fairly inexpensive. Updating the fixtures, including bars and light fixtures, can bring a whole new life to the room along with a small price tag. You can even use good quality brushed nickel spray paint to update those towel bars and paper holders.

    Adding The Spark

A fresh coat of wall paint and a new set of towels can transform a bathroom within hours. Select a color that complements the house and the cabinetry for a soothing, spa-like look.
