    ENTRY DOORS SET THE TONE

The physical entrance to your home sets the tone for what lies inside.

Making an entrance is what it's all about. Your doors make a statement about your home and your style.

    Not Just for Security

Entrance doors are not just for security and privacy. They are the cover to the book that is your home. Select doors that reflect the style of your house. Whether a Craftsman Bungalow, a Cape Cod, a Mid-Century Ranch, or a Center Hall Colonial, there are doors designed to reflect the look of your house's heritage and vibe. It will also provide a welcoming and secure portal. You can spruce up your home with a new entrance door or door and sidelights.

    Materials Matter

Not all doors are created equal. While we traditionally think of doors as being made from wood and perhaps glass, that is only one option. Doors are available in steel and fiberglass as well. Each material has its own strengths and weaknesses. Steel, for instance, is prone to chipping and rusting in wet or salty conditions, but they are inexpensive and won't warp. Fiberglass entrance doors are very rugged and secure, provide low-to-no maintenance, and won't warp. They are available in wood grain looks which are hard to discern from actual wood. Beware the lower quality fiberglass doors in cold climates, however. The tried-and-true wood door remains the most popular choice in residential applications.

    Solid Or Paned?

When deciding on a new entrance door, consider the effect on the interior. With glass panels or panes, your interior entrance will be bathed in natural light. Some foyers are dark and compact, and selecting a new entrance with sidelights or panes can make the space feel larger and more welcoming. If security is your primary concern, avoid doors with large glass panels or panes unless you intend to install a security door in addition. In cold climates, consider a storm door to help keep out the driving snow or ice.
